You don’t think you can get a giant straight eight with 5:1 compression and no readily available parts running?

I think there’s a guy on here with a mill, english wheel, lead setup, etc who’s just the right candidate. Can’t remember who though.

That’s the only way I know how to spend $15k.

All the elements of turning the shop into Basketcase Inc. are present other than roofed-in space and money.

Or even better, $30k and one can tow the other home...

It’s a long drive from Florida to Ontario and back to NC, though.

question... Would a Toyota GZ engine fit in this?

A 1GZ is apparently ~24" wide, so the answer is “maybe”. It would definitely fit between the rails, and a Ford of this year range has a radiator shroud ~18" wide and is much smaller overall, so it’s likely you could have the side shrouds over it. The length of the engine bay is wayyy in excess of what’s needed, of course.
I’d be hesitant to do it because muh straight eight, but if I did it it would likely be possible to dress up the engine a great deal and make it look more appropriate. I’m thinking with the right kind of trickery you could make the valve covers look like flathead heads (copper? with cooling fins!), and run the engine on 3-4 EFI valve bodies and a common plenum manifold or two - there’s a company out there that makes a valve body that looks like a Stromberg 97. Just remove the original manifold, make a new tube steel manifold with leaders off it to the inlets, and it would look
30s as hell.

I’d love to see that!
